The
Vimala Welfare Centre

Vimala Welfare
Centre is a training-cum-production centre started by the
Daughters of the Heart of Mary in 1961 with the view of helping
women of the lower income group and the poor unemployed by means
of socio-economic programs. At present, the centre caters to
about 800 girls providing them with the means to supplement
their family income, simultaneously catering to their all round
development.
Since it deals
with women of lower income groups, the program is oriented
towards meeting basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter.
The women at the centre are taught fibre handicraft, needlecraft
and embroidery. Home Unit facilities are also given to those who
have household responsibilities.
