Pathanamthitta is bordered by Alappuzha district in the
west, Kollam district in the south and Kottayam and
Idukki districts in the north. It has no coastline but
rests on the steps of the western Ghats and stretches to
low lying rice fields. Above 50% of the total land area
is covered with forest. It is nourished by three rivers
flowing to the west - Pamba, Manimala and Achankovil.
The youngest district in the state, Pathanamthitta is
also the head quarters of pilgrimage worship in Kerala. |

Get involved in this project and let’s show the world
what Kerala’s all about!
Kerala is such a vast and diverse place that it is
impossible to fit everything about it onto a website!
Do you have an extra little something to add to make
our site even more informative, colorful and vibrant?
Or do you have a special little tit-bit or story about
the place you grew up in?
