Families – a union of individuals. Here in Kerala, great importance is given to families and maintaining close family ties. Here now I share with you a few of my experiences in my family...

The Wedding...Two years passed and then a surprising piece of news reached Ooty. I received Saleem’s wedding invitation. If I remembered correctly, Saleem was only 21 years old....

Fareena And  Saleem...I met Fareena, Saleem’s wife, when I went home for the holidays that year. She was a beautiful young lady; smart, outspoken and very kind. But I saw her eyes fill with tears when I asked about Saleem.

Saleem's Return...Next day, Saleem arrived in Vendaloor. 2 jeeps and a car full of people went to pick him up at the airport. He had brought 4 big cartons of gifts. All the jeep carriers were filled and seemed to say, “A person from the Gulf has arrived.”....

'Vellippa'.....My Grandfather was known as ‘Hitler Vellippa’ in the village because of his European looks and his brave talk. He used to be an Inspector till he retired in 1965.....

Goodbyes...And so time flew and soon it was time for Saleem to return to Dubai. He had already admitted Tuttoo in the M.E.S. Nursery School...
