The many articles that cover
through the days of post independent India in the 1950's, 60's,70's, 80's
has always been a great eye opener in many ways and this has been our example
to follow. Ammachi stands out all the more than Ichachen as we can remember
more of her all through our growing up times and even today. These articles
bring to life the nostalgia, abundant love filled woods of Yercaud, a paradise
almost lost in today's fast changing world. This place and its halcyon days
are etched all our hearts. The letters from the 1930's and 40's show
the close bound in our family especially between Ammachi and Ichahen. Every
Syrian Christian family today has memories of faith, principles, upbringing
and heritage all along the lines of Christian values.
In a large family like ours a vast difference in experiences and views
are present between different age groups and generations and, all the
extracts are taken carefully Ichachen's
sensitivity, sincerity, conviction, complimented Ammachi's simplicity,
selflessness, integrity, and moral values have been trend setters for
us in many ways. Ammachi was an enigma to all of us till when in the 1970's
and 80's when we all settled in different locations and got together every
year at the Tharavad in Kanjirapally with all our families We carry all
these joy and values in every fabric of our ethos. Yercaud schools
have had its unique contribution in helping us to adapt to these
Christian
values. On the occasion of Ammachi's 75th birthday this souvenir with a
compilation of various articles, extracts, letters and
pictures would definitely create a vivid picture of the memoirs that the family shared. This we all feel
will bind us together for all times to come as it always did.
