Mass extinction – so what ?!

Kerala pronounced as a ‘God’s own country’ and is today an accepted synonym to others outside this state and country. As techno-tycoons likewise every citizen dreaming financial illusions, watch the cloud with the silver lining loom over and blinded by the fact that their ‘land of euphoria’ does not have a congenial environment for establishing industry thanks to the growth of trade unions; they keep pondering why this economic glory does not happen despite such a real life name of Kerala.

De-forestation gave way not to modern cities but to more unaccounted money to the ‘green’ hackers and finally when such activities became banned by the forest laws enacted in the legislative assembly building at Thiruvanathapuram, they still didn’t stop their doings. Its being known that since the literacy rate is close to 100% even the least educated person will have the necessary sophistication in planning such endeavors to cash in money from the sale of sandalwood, teakwood, mahogany etc. that thrive in the treasure chest of Kerala’s forests. What these intimidators don’t realize is that their own children would be left to suffer when in a few decades there will be just a few reserve forests left in the world not only in this part of the Indian subcontinent but also elsewhere like the Amazon, the Black forests, interior Africa’s etc. Flora from the tropics is worth around 50 plus billion USD.

These figures don’t mean anything other than to loot for the forest swindlers. And who could be more responsible for their rapid growth over the decades other than the ruling political parties who depend on them and vice versa. It’s a nexus than not even investigative journalists can prove beyond certain limits and the paradox would as always be that these proofs of the unholy nexus will be tampered with to the extend that the judiciary will simply dismiss the cases. The ordinary man out in the streets of Kerala is never sensitive of this nexus, though they hear many unconfirmed talks. This is a typical quality of the versatile Malayali who is very much fond of gossip but never believe until they see the proof for them-self. Soon this menace has to be stopped or else there wouldn’t be any use at pointing each other’s fingers when all the valuable forest wealth is looted and gone that too untraceable. The people although worried and express strong opposition to such matters there are no genuine interest, as everyone knows that the bureaucracy and the judiciary are corrupted. Even if none of us are moved by these moral arguments there has to be a real genuine consciousness to stop this tampering of the God given wealth and save ourselves from an impending disaster ahead. Any takers to join hands?
