 (Another variation of theeyal common through out Kerala)

To make 'tomato theeyal' you will need....

Ingredients

Quantities

tomatoes

500 gms

diced onions

1 cup(200gms)

green chilies

8 nos

oil

4tsp

grated coconuts

2 cups(400 Gms)

dry chilies

6 nos

coriander

1 tsp

turmeric

1 tsp

curry leaves

a sprig

mustard seeds

1 tsp

cinnamon

1 piece

cloves

6 nos

cardamom

5 nos

salt

to taste

  1.  

Cut tomatoes into big pieces. Slit the green chilies.

Cook tomatoes, green chilies and onions in 2 cups of water. Fry all the other ingredients (except turmeric) along with coconut till brown in colour.

Add turmeric, pour into the curry and leave it to simmer.

Season the curry with fried onions, curry leaves and mustard in oil and serve hot.
