And here's how to rustle up some Paripu vada.

Ingredients

Quantity

thur dhal

1 cup

onions (finely chopped)

1/2 cup

green chillies ( cut round)

1 dsp

ginger (finely chopped)

1 tsp

curry leaves (finely chopped)

1 dsp

asafoetida (fried and powdered)

1/2 tsp

oil

for frying

Clean, wash and soak the dhal in water. Drain it after 4 or 5 hours and grind it into a coarse paste.

Mix all the ingredients with the dhal paste. Roll the mixture into balls the size of a large lime. While dropping them into the boiling oil, flatten them with the fingers. When they are fried golden brown lift them from oil on to a strainer.
