1.Wash gram and boil
in water with turmeric powder till soft and tender, mash it well
to get puree.
2.Wash, peel and cut
drumsticks and other vegetables into small pieces.
3.Chop onions and
tomato.
4.Soak tamarind in hot
water and extract the juice.
5.Add vegetables and
salt to the cooked gram.
6.When vegetables are
tender, add tamarind juice and simmer for a few minutes. 7.Remove
from fire.
8.Heat oil and crackle
mustard seeds, add onions and tomatoes and sauté.
9.Add broken chili
pieces, curry leaves and sambar powder. Temper the dal, mix well
and simmer. Add coconut milk and switch off the fire.
10.Add chopped
coriander. For extra flavor, add coconut oil.
