To make uppuma you will need.. |

green chilies |

ginger |

cashew nuts |

Bengal gram |
20 gms |

split black gram |
15 gms |

mustard seeds |
4 gms |
|
curry leaves |
2 sprigs |
|
water |
500 mls |
|
salt |
to taste |
|
lime |
15 mls |
|
coriander leaves |
a few sprigs |

Clean, wash and chop coriander and
green chillies.

Chop onion and ginger and roast
semolina.

Boil water separately.
-
Heat fat and fry cashew nuts and lift
from oil.

Add mustard seeds, split black and
Bengal grams and brown slightly.

Add semolina, boiling water and salt.
-
Allow to cook till dry. Add lime
juice, mix and remove from fire.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves

My
tips to make sure your 'uppuma' turns out just right
The quality of uppuma depends upon the amount
of water added, if too much it becomes soggy, if too less it becomes
dry. It can be served with any spicy gravy, or with a banana or just
plain sugar.
