A sweet steamed cake favorite among the Christians of central Kerala.

Ok, now this is how you make Vattayappams.

Ok, now this is how you make Vattayappams.

Ingredients Quantities

Refined flour

16 tblsp

Fine bread crumbs

12 tblsp

Sugar

12 tblsp

Ghee

12 tblsp

Ginger powder

1 or 2tsp

Milk

1 cup

Baking powder

2 tsp

Cashew

optional

Salt

to taste

Blend all the ingredients together and  steam cook in a pressure cooker or a double boiler till the batter becomes firm.

Vattayappam's are sweet and are usually taken without any accompaniments, but they go very well with a spicy gravy.
